In a faraway jungle where the leaves were the color of a sky-blue dream and the flowers smelled like candy, a kind bird named “Kaso” lived. Kaso was a big cassowary, but he had a very soft and gentle heart. He loved running through pink meadows and singing songs for the butterflies.
One morning, “Hoohoo,” the jungle’s old and wise owl, came to see Kaso. Hoohoo had a small cloth pouch in his beak that sparkled like a star. He said, “Kaso, these are the Sun’s magical seeds. You must take them to the Golden Plain.”
Hoohoo continued: “This is an important trust, Kaso. You must be very brave and take good care of this pouch until you reach your destination.” Kaso carefully hung the pouch around his neck and said, “I promise I’ll be a good keeper of this trust and not be scared at all!”
Kaso began his journey. He passed over hills that were as soft as clouds. A gentle wind blew and spread the scent of spring flowers everywhere. With every step he took, Kaso was careful that the shining pouch would not shake.
Suddenly, a playful squirrel named “Toto” sprang out from behind a tree. When Toto saw the sparkling pouch, his eyes grew wide and he said, “Wow, Kaso! What a pretty thing you have! Come on, let’s stop and play with this shiny pouch!”
Kaso stopped and looked at Toto kindly. He said, “Dear Toto, I really want to play with you, but this pouch is a trust. I have promised to deliver it safely to the Golden Plain. A brave bird always keeps his promise.”
The road was long, and the sun was slowly going behind the mountains. Kaso reached a wooden bridge over a river full of stars. The bridge wobbled a little, but Kaso calmed the trembling of his heart and said, “I can do it!”
With slow, brave steps, he crossed the bridge. Every time the bridge creaked, Kaso thought about the entrusted seeds, and he grew stronger. He knew that being trustworthy means that even when you’re a little scared, you still keep going on the right path.
At last, the sun rose, and Kaso reached the Golden Plain. The plain was full of light and seemed to be waiting for the seeds to arrive. Kaso opened the pouch and lovingly scattered the seeds on the ground. He was very happy that he had kept his promise.
As soon as the seeds touched the ground, big golden flowers bloomed. Hoohoo and Toto arrived too and clapped for brave Kaso. Kaso learned that courage means staying faithful to a promise we have made. Now the whole jungle shone with his kindness.
